JUST IN: Brad Pitt finally addresses the situation after several of his children dropped “Pitt” from their last names.

“I really don’t care. I’ll just have more children with my girlfriend.”

Maddox Jolie has become the latest of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s children to drop “Pitt” from their last name.

A hearing was held on Monday (September 14) at which Maddox‘s petition to have his name changed was accepted without objection by the judge. He will now be known as Maddox Jolie. He filed the petition earlier this year.

“There are no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,” the order stated, per Page Six.

The outlet says he appeared remotely for the hearing alongside his lawyer.

Maddox did not go into detail about his decision, but did list the reason for the requested name change as “personal” on the documentation when he filed the petition in May.

He already started going by his mom’s surname earlier this year, and was credited as “Maddox Jolie” for his work as assistant director on Angelina‘s movie Couture.

Maddox is not the only one of their kids to legally drop the name “Pitt.” Most recently, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt filed to legally remove her father’s name just days after she turned 18.

She completed the last major legal requirement at the end of August and took out a newspaper ad to announce the name change, which is required by law in California.

During the November 2 hearing, a judge will officially approve Vivienne‘s name change request if no one objects.

A week before Vivienne legally filed the petition for her name change, her older sister Zahara, 21, completed a step for the legal process, with her hearing scheduled for September.

Their 19-year-old daughter Shiloh was granted her legal name change in 2024. So far, only Pax, 23, and Vivienne’s twin brother Knox have kept Brad‘s surname.

In a recent interview, Brad shared some very rare comments about his “family stuff.”

“This is the result of a prolonged campaign of alienation of children against their parent,” the source told PEOPLE. “It’s an incredibly sad reality, but it’s not surprising after years of one parent weaponizing the children against the other one with no regard for the consequence.”

Zahara had previously hinted at her name change. When she walked the stage during her graduation from Spelman College in Atlanta in May, her name was read as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” and she introduced herself as such in a speech while joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in November 2023.

A source told PEOPLE in May that Jolie has an “amazing relationship” with her daughter, and that the actress-activist shows up for “pretty much everything” Zahara is involved in.

“She really encourages all the kids to embrace their individualities. She always loved their different personalities, interests and talents,” the insider added. “She makes an effort to support what matters to each of them.”
